I grew up in Chincoteague Va. and I have loved Robbin's music since the late 70's. Not to mention I had the pleasure of spending a few years visiting with the band and help setup/load gear before and after gigs in the early 80s. We had some fun to say the least. Outstanding music, musicians and people. I still consider you guys my friends after all these years. This music WILL stand the test of time and endure, I just wish everyone could enjoy it. Take care Robbin, Audie, Bobby (Rico), Eric, Velpo, Bevan and Rob. BTW, did you ever record "Daddy's Money?" I went as far as to beg Bevan to record it live off the board. No luck. Your friend Jon B. |

I remember fondly listening to Robbin's music and even dancing to him when he played live at the Wigwam at the College of William and Mary in 1982. |

Growing up in Yorktown, VA, in the 70s, I thought Robbin Thompson was Virginia's own undiscovered genius. Obviously, the music biz is unfair. TWO B's PLEASE was one of my fav albums from the early 80s. I seem to recall shows at Busch Gardens during that time frame as well.
It goes without saying that the Thompson/Bassett classic deserves to be our state song.
I haven't heard the new album, but plan to buy it immediately now that I know it exists. I have "Since Grade School" and will buy whatever you put out in the future.
I'm approaching 40. For the sake of my generation (and so I can show my kids what good music actually sounds like) PLEASE keep recording and performing in the Richmond area.
Oh yeh...please tell me where you're playing. |

Robbin,
I really enjoyed your 9/8/01 concert at the American Theatre in Hampton. I have been a fan since the "2B's Please" days, but my husband hadn't seen you perform live before - his comment was, "damn, that man can sing!". When will the new songs ("Chesapeake Moon", etc.) be available?
Good luck getting "Too Many Secrets" on The Sopranos. It's perfect! |

"Lookin' at the headlights" isn't Robbin's song - it's on the Famous Unknowns-CD and was written by Lewis McGeHee, but RT sings back-up vocals on the CD... |

I was at the American Theatre and you were great. I was glad to see you and hear the stories that inspired you to write your music. I was able to relate to each. Especially the story of returning for the Highschool reunion to see all the once thin beatiful girls turn fat. The song Out on the Chesapeake hits home as well. A close friend of mine who once owned a seafood facility in Gloucester, VA was forced to close his operation due to the problems associated with the Bay.
I have been a long time listner of yours, from the old Christopher Newport College days, Suffolk Peanut Fest., Abby Road in Va. Beach. About 4 years ago I phoned you at your studio in Richmond an we chatted for some time.
Congradulations on your new C.D. of which I now own. I hope you return more often to Tidewater or the Penisula.
Please keep me advised of your upcomming gigs.
Smooth seas and the right winds.

Woke up with "Out on the Chesapeake" playin' in my head... great concert at the American Theatre last night! Hope you record "Hit the Fan" and "Won't Go Quietly" soon so we can add them to our Thompson collection. Meanwhile, are there any Famous Unknowns CDs or cassettes available? Acquiring minds want to know ;-) |

Robbin,
I have been listening to your music since the '70's. I remember the first time I saw you in concert was at Peabody's in Virginia Beach. My wife Susan and I have been married for 5 years. She has been listening to your music with me since we started dating. Tonight she (and I) had the pleasure of hearing you in Hampton. Now she has been able to make the connection and understand our love and enjoyment of your music. Tonight, your were at your best and we thank you for your performance. Then, when you came back out with "Bright Eyes", you rocked the house.
I like the idea of being informed on your future performances.
We were front row and center,
Thanks again and God Bless,
Bobby and Susan Gentry |
